- Aside from the accounting websites, which blog/website do you consider a must-read? I read techcrunch.com, cbssports.com, google news, Seth Godins blog.
- In what ways have you contributed to your firm/company to make it better? As the new owner and managing principal of the firm I am working tirelessly to ensure that our processes and procedures evolve with the changing landscape of CPA firms.
- In what ways do you participate in the professional community to change/improve the accounting profession? I am very involved with the young CPA movement at AICPA. I am very interested in training up the next generation of accounting leaders to help lead our profession forward over the next 125+ years! I do this through my involvement with the Young Member Leadership Committee and the EDGE Experience.
- In what ways do you participate in your local community to help others? I am activity involved in my daughter’s school. It is a small private Christian school and I serve as a member of the board of trustees and serve as the treasurer. I have also been involved in teen ministry at our church.
- What changes do you foresee in the accounting profession of the near future (3-5 years)? The accounting profession will be changing dramatically over the next number of years. For the next 3-5 years I think that we will continue to see the rate of change increase each year. We will continue to see the large firms getting bigger and we will continue to see firms put more and more of their processes and procedures into the cloud.
- How do you see yourself participating in shaping the future of the accounting profession? It is my desire to continue doing whatever I can to ensure that the next generation of CPA leaders have the skills and abilities that they need in order to lead our profession in the future. I hope to do this through continued involvement with AICPA and by continuing to speak and teach young CPAs in leadership and personal development.
- What is your career philosophy? My career philosophy is this – Serve others and build a business that integrates well into the life that my family and I want to live.
- Describe one person who has been an important mentor to you and how that person helped change your life. My dad has always been a huge influence on me as we was always looking for what could come next while always keeping a mentality of serving others.
